Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) is one of the prominent and prestigious degree awarding institutes in the engineering education of Bangladesh. The institute was established at first as the Engineering College, Chittagong in 1968 under the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Chittagong. In 1986, The Engineering College, Chittagong was converted into Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Chittagong (BIT, Chittagong). Further in September 2003, BIT-Chittagong was converted into a self-degree-awarding public university. The University is situated by the side of the Chittagong -Kaptai road some 25 kilometers away from the center of Chittagong city. A few tourist attractions of the country like the large hydroelectric plant, the natural beauty of the lake of Kaptai, hills of Rangamati, Bandarban, the longest sea beach of the world and tourist resort of Cox's Bazar are only within a few hours journey from the university campus.
