  •      Dr. M. A. Mansur Chowdhury educated in some of the best Universities in home and abroad. He obtained B. Sc. Hons. and M. Sc. degrees from Chittagong University, M. Phil. degree from the University of Dhaka and Ph. D. degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada in 1986. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge and Sussex University of U. K. He was a visiting Scientist, Regular Associate and Senior Associate Fellow at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy. At present he is the Professor and Director of Jamal Nazrul Islam RCMPS, University of Chittagong.

Prof. Chowdhury has long experience in both teaching and research. He started his professional career from 1975. His fields of research are specially Quantum Field Theory (QFT) and Dynamical Systems. He did some excellent works in Quantum Field Theory. In mid 1980's he and his research collaborators in Canada proposed an ingenious Regularization Method for solving Quantum Field Theoretical Problems which is called "Pre-regularization Method". The wide application of this method is accepted by the scientific community in the world. The most advantage of this method over the others is that one can work on Physical dimensions. However, because of the parameter independence, this method is only inadequate to apply in Renormalization Group Equation. Recently, Chowdhury proposed the modified version of the old one entitled "Modified Pre-regularization Method" which can now be applied in all QFT problems. During that period they also proposed another alternative method called "Operator Regularization Method" for solving QFT problems without considering Feynman diagrams.

Dynamical System is a very interesting field of Applied Mathematics which has wide application in different branches of Physical and Biological Sciences. Prof. Chowdhury has been doing research in this field also.

Dr. Chowdhury published a good number of papers in reputed journals of home and abroad. More than ten students received M. Phil. and Ph. D degree in Quantum Field Theory and Dynamical Systems under his supervision. At present about a dozen students have been doing research under him in the above mentioned fields.

    Title of the speech:
