About Myself

This is Kanu Kumar Das, currently working as HEAD in the Department of Architecture at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Chittagong, Bangladesh since February 2010. I have obtained a Bachelor degree in Architecture from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and completed M. Plan degree from Maulana Azad National Institute of technology (MANIT) Bhopal, India. Prior joining to CUET, I had worked in the Urban Design sector to develop the urban future plan of our mega cities. Since June 2011, I am serving CUET as an Assistant Professor in department of Architecture which is one of the leading government technical universities in Bangladesh. My academic career started since I had joined as a Lecture in the same Department in February 2010, promoted to Assistant professor in March 2011 and then  promoted to Associate professor in 2021. Teaching is my passion and I believe the knowledge transfer through the Community Demand Approach is the best way to justify the local needs to develop a current city states. After completing my bachelor study, I was involved in few small scale research projects related to my area of interest. I have had experience to work in Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) as an Assistant Architect where I have a privilege to work in deferent projects relevant to urban infrastructure development. I published research papers in International Conference Proceedings and national, international Journals which focus my research interest background and innovation skill. Those papers were based on building form, urban transport system, urban open recreational space, historical building morphology and vernacular architecture. I have attended in several continual educational programs. These includes participate in an international training course named ‘Earthquake Risk Mitigation’ at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee),India with SAARC Disaster Management Centre (SDMC) research grant;, national training program named ‘Design Concept for local Buildings Rules & Regulation’, ‘Earthquake Risk Mitigation in Chittagong’.I have also completed a short course on ‘Building Fire Safety’ conducted at Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) which mainly focuses on design consideration and rules regulation for fire safety in urban context. I also delivered a seminar speech on ‘A Journey through Vimana and Sikara’ at IAB, Ctg Bangladesh. The paper prepared from my own research work based on a historical comparison between temples in north and south India. I coordinated following two workshop base on Housing in CUET i) Workshop on “Methodological Analysis on Implementation of Housing Project” Held during 13-14 December 2017 Department of Architecture Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) Chittagong – 4349, Bangladesh Workshop Instructors Professor Dr. Yogesh K.
