About Myself

G. M. Sadiqul Islam is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET). Additionally, Prof. Islam serves the university as the Head of the Department of Water Resources Engineering. His diverse experience in the fields of Civil Engineering includes i) the construction industry (design and implementation), ii) teaching and consultancy at CUET, and iii) collaborative research with companies in Japan and the United Kingdom. He is a Life Fellow of IEB and a member of the American Society for Testing and Materials, the American Concrete Institute and RILEM. Prof. Islam obtained a prestigious Japanese Government Monbukagasho scholarship to pursue a Master's (major in Structural Engineering) Degree from Hokkaido University, Japan. His PhD study at the University of Dundee was supported by the prestigious Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Award (DHPA) from Research Councils, United Kingdom and the United Kingdom Quality Ash Association. Prof. Islam has published around 50 technical papers in national and international journals and conferences. He is also a reviewer of a few prestigious international journals, including i) Construction and Building Materials by Elsevier publisher, ii) Case Studies in Construction Materials by Elsevier Publisher, iii) Materials and Structure by Springer publisher, iv) Journal of Testing and Evaluation from American Society for Testing and Materials, v) Journal of Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste from American Society of Civil Engineers, vi) International Journal of Sustainable Engineering from Taylor and Francis, vii) Engineering Structures of Elsevier publisher, viii) Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids of Elsevier publisher.
