About Myself

Ratan Kumar Das was born in Chittagong, Bangladesh, the Son of Lalit Mohan Das and Mamota Rani Das. He is currently working as an assistant professor in the department of mechanical engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology(CUET). After completing Higher Secondary at Nizampur College, Bangladesh, he entered the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology in 2007. He received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in August 2011 and stood first in order of merit. He was awarded a technical scholarship for academic excellence by the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh during under graduation programs. In the spring of 2012, he was awarded a Republic of Korea's Government scholarship. He entered the graduate school of the Institute of E-Vehicle Technology, University of Ulsan, Republic of Korea. After completing a Master’s of Science in e-vehicle design technology Ratan Kumar Das joined as a full-time faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the College of Engineering and Technology (CEAT), IUBAT-International University of Business Agriculture and Technology in the year 2014. Before joining here he worked as a full-time research assistant (February 2012 to February 2014) in the Applied Aerodynamics Research Laboratory, at the University of Ulsan, Republic of Korea. He worked on a project " Modelling of oil pipeline behaviour using Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) approach" as a research assistant at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada from September 01, 2021, to May 07, 2022. He served as a teaching assistant(TA) in Fundamentals of Fluid Dynamics and Chemistry and Physics of Engineering Materials under the Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science, Memorial University of Newfoundland. Mr Das also worked as an Executive Assistant for the Teaching Assistant Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland(TAUMUN). He has been researching fluid dynamics, Thermo-fluids, Numerical Analysis of structure using FEM, Automotive Engineering, Fluid-Structure interaction, Vortex-Induced Vibration(VIV), Energy harvesting, microplasma, and their application in engineering fields such as microplasma-based fuel reforming, surface modification, gas treatment, etc. He is a regular reviewer of several international journals including Physics of Plasmas. He also has computer skills in the software of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Catia, Matlab, Abaqus FEM, LS DYNA, ANSYS CFD, Comsol Multiphysics, and VizGlow (Commercial Software for the computational analysis of plasma-related problems), etc. He loves teaching as well as research. He joined CUET to develop the field of Mechanical Engineering education and research in the country. At present, he is on study leave to pursue his Ph.D. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Mechatronic Engineering from RMIT University, Australia.  He is working on a sustainable water desalination system using low-grade thermal energy, a Vacuum Membrane Desalination (VMD) system, Performance analysis of Eductor.
